Dean studied piano at Berklee prior to transferring to Texas A&M’s petroleum engineering program. Later he traveled as a technologist, with one of the team’s products now in the Smithsonian permanent collection (accession number 1992.0449.01) as “the enabler of the information age.” These days he remembers some of his favorite places by writing about them.
